Our Founders

Rute sets the strategic direction of Hossio, bringing a rigorous, analytical perspective shaped by more than 25 years of international experience across the UK, Europe, and the United States. Raised between Portugal and Macau, she developed an early appreciation for cultural nuance, precision, and hospitality.

At Hossio, Rute defines the vision and standards that guide every decision — from vineyard choices to the final expression in the glass. A natural host, she believes wine is at its best when shared, thoughtfully and without hurry.

James is a sustainability finance specialist with a global career spanning Europe and the United States. His work is driven by long‑term thinking, practical stewardship, and a belief that responsible decisions shape better outcomes — in business and in the vineyard.

At Hossio, James leads on sustainability and long‑term stewardship, with particular attention to biodiversity, water management, and the enduring health of the land. His approach reflects the same values found in the wines: balance, restraint, and intention.

Both Rute and James have gained
WSET Level 3 award in Wines (Merit - 2026), Level 1 and Level 2 in Wines (Distinction - 2025).
